Much of my lesson content is adapted from a combination of the above sources. I love to take the strengths of one program and blend it with the strengths of another, while adapting the content for the specific needs of my students.

Example: Cold War Crisis Photo

Example: Cold War Crisis Simulation

One of my favorite class activities that draws from the above sources is this Cold War Crisis Debriefing from OER World History Project. My class thoroughly enjoyed this simulation, complete with the principal as President Kennedy!

Example: UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Following our unit on World War II and the Holocaust, it was important for the students to see the positive global efforts that emerged from these horrific events. We spent time designing posters from each statement of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Slide Examples

Here are a few examples of some of my instruction slides. I love to introduce info with colorful visuals to help engage students before moving into a group project, partner research, or digital journal.

After studying the Holocaust with a video from the National Holocaust Musuem and comprehensive notes, students were challenged to engage as table groups in critical analysis, forming conclusions regarding issues of responsibility & conscience in regard to the Holocaust. Students took this activity quite seriously and many good discussions were had.

Twp of the projects I love most are our WW2 Character Analysis and Class WW2 Timeline Project. To keep the study of World War 2 from becoming an impersonal analysis of major conflicts, I give students a list of characters to choose from to research and present to the class. This gives students an understanding of the wide variety of roles individuals played during the war. Additionally, our timeline helps frame our study of World War 2, helping students place events in context and establish connectivity.
